News for 28 June 2009

JP Members, family and friends who need our prayers::
  • Please keep MARY DELL GOODE in your prayers. Her brother, Rowe Beddingfield passed away last week after a long battle with cancer.
  • We also extend our sympathy to GLORIA DORSEY in the passing of her cousin.
  • JOYCE GRESHAM’S back surgery has been rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon at HSV Hospital. Joyce is currently undergoing tests to determine the cause of her fever and nausea.
  • DON RUTLEDGE is recovering from eye surgery.
  • ORENE WALLACE is in room 300 at the Windsor House Nursing Home.
  • DAVID BATH and GREG BACON both are recovering from recent surgeries.
  • Let’s remember to pray for our cancer patients. They are DAN FITTS, BOBBY GOODE, BENJIE NORRIS, BETTY REAVIS, & CASSIE WATTS.
  • Relatives of JP members fighting cancer are Ronnie Dean Long (Ramona Burrell’s son), Michele Rogers (Nell Wheeler’s Daughter), and Nancy Rudder (Gail Gaines’ mother).
  • We also have several members confined to nursing homes or their own homes or can only get out on a limited basis. They are: DORIS BARNES, LIBBY BARNES, SUSIE CREQUE, SHIRLEY DAVIS, MARY DELL GOODE, DOUGLAS GRUBBS, VERA JENKINS, REBA PATTON, ELOISE TANNER, ORENE WALLACE, MARGIE WATKINS, and CASSIE WATTS.

  • VBS: Our vacation bible school was a great success. Daily attendance averaged 224. A big thank you to all the teachers and guides did such an outstanding job. VBS ATTENDANCE: MON-238; TUE-230; WED-211; THU-223 and FRI-217.

    LADIES LECTURESHIP: The 3rd annual ladies lectureship at JP is scheduled for Aug 21-22. Liz Roberts of Washington, DC will be teaching lessons from the Book of Job.

    MARRIAGE: Congratulations to CARLA NASH and CADE MCKEE who were married last Saturday.

    JP Members, family and friends who need our prayers::
  • GREG BACON had hip surgery Thursday in Nashville. Everything went well and he is now home and will be on crutches for about 6 weeks.
  • DAVID BATH had outpatient knee surgery Friday. His surgery also went well and he is now recovering at home. He returns to his doctor Monday.
  • JOYCE GRESHAM’S back surgery has been postponed. She will have to see a heart doctor first. Joyce is at home.
  • ORENE WALLACE is in Room 418 at Crestwood Hosp. S is being treated for an infection.
  • DAN FITTS had his last chemo treatment on Monday. His doctor is pleased with the results so far. Dan will undergo another scan in six weeks.
  • BENJIE NORRIS will have two more chemo treatments before heading to Duke Univ. on July 14th for an MRI and PET scan.
  • Other JP members battling cancer are BOBBY GOODE, BETTY REAVIS, and CASSIE WATTS.
  • Relatives of JP members fighting cancer are Ronnie Dean Long (Ramona Burrell’s son), Michele Rogers (Nell Wheeler’s Daughter), and Nancy Rudder (Gail Gaines’ mother).
  • ASHLEY BROWN, who is the half-sister of Marcella House’s granddaughter, returned to B’ham yesterday and since she has improved substantially, doctors will not do surgery at this time.
  • We also have several members confined to nursing homes or their own homes or can only get out on a limited basis.   • SYMPATHY: Please keep former JP member NANCY HANKS in your prayers; her father, Keith Copeland passed away Thursday morning. The funeral was yesterday.
